Author Interview- Tricia Rayburn

Back in April, I had the chance to read Siren by Tricia Rayburn and really enjoyed it.  Read my review here.  Now I was lucky enough to get to ask Tricia some fun questions!

1. What kind of research did you have to do to write your story about Sirens?
I spent some time reading up on sirens in mythology, but they were really just my jumping-off point. I wanted SIREN to be a modern, unique story, so I spent much more time brainstorming my characters and the world of Winter Harbor.

2. Will there be a sequel? If so, can you give us the title, aprox date it will be released and tell us something about it?
Yes, there will be a sequel! The title’s in the works, but it should be out next summer. It’ll follow Vanessa as she deals with being back at school for her senior year, struggles with physical challenges and abilities, and confronts fears both old and new.

3. Did you have input on your cover of Siren? (I think it’s beautiful, especially the colors!)
I’m so happy you like the cover! I do, too. The concept was all Egmont—they had the idea from the day they bought the book!

4. What book are you currently reading right now and why?
Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford. I’d heard such great things about it I had to check it out!

5. What is your guilty pleasure, food-wise?
It’s a toss-up between mint chocolate chip ice cream and cheesy nachos with fresh guacamole!

Yum!  Thanks for letting us get to know you!

Author Interview and Giveaway- Bree Despain

Earlier this year I read The Dark Divine by Bree Despain and LOVED it.  It is definitely my favorite book so far this year!  Read my review here.  When I got my copy of The Dark Divine, I was also lucky enough to receive a bottle of nail polish that matches the purple color that is on the cover of the book.  And now I get to giveaway 3 bottles!

But first, I got to ask the lovely Bree Despain a couple of questions as part of the Dark Divine Blog Tour!

1.If you had to recommend one book to readers, what would it be?

Only one?! Oh man, that’s pressure. This sort of thing really depends on my mood. Today I’m going to say THE WAY HE LIVED by Emily Wing Smith, not only because it’s an excellent book (recently won the Utah Book Award and was a 2008 Lambda finalist) but also because it was written by a wonderful person. Emily is an author that I admire and aspire to be as good as—and she’s also an awesome friend.

2.What is your guilty pleasure, food-wise? (And if it's chocolate, be specific)

Well, there was a time when I would have said a Ghirardelli triple chocolate brownie and bowl of Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Therapy ice cream, but that was before I discovered that I have an intolerance to wheat, dairy, and eggs.

Every once in a while, I indulge in some chocolate ice cream (shhh…don’t tell my doctor) but I mostly get my guilty pleasures from dairy-wheat-free dark chocolate chips these days. I eat them while I write. Often with cinnamon bears.

However, when I finish my sequel, I am planning on eating one of those Ghirardelli brownies . . . even if it kills me.

3.Will there be a sequel to The Dark Divine, and what can you tell us about it?

Yes, there is a sequel to TDD. It’s called THE LOST SAINT, and it’s scheduled to be released on December 28th of this year!

I’m really not sure what I’m allowed to tell you about it at this point, but it’s definitely going explore some of the issues that came up at the end of TDD. We may, or may not, find out what happened to Jude. And there’s a couple of new characters headed to Rose Crest that are bringing a whole new set of complications with them—and one of them just happens to be pretty darn hot.

Please go to The Book Scout, http://thebookscout.blogspot.com/, tomorrow to see the next stop on The Dark Divine Blog Tour.

Thank you so much, Bree!
